61. Jain-ul-Abidin : 

He was a very liberal ruler of Kashmir who encouraged the policy of religious toleration and conservation of literature. For this, he was called the Akbar of Kashmir. 

62. Kabir : 

A bhakti saint and poet of Nirguna School, tailor by caste, was revered both by the Hindus and Muslims alike. He shunned idolatry and stressed the value of Guru. 

63. Kalhana : 

A Kashmiri poet and historian of 12th century who authored Rajatarangini which is the first standard historical book of India. 

64. Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti : 

The first sufi saint who visited India and brought the sufi order of Chisti to India. The famous dargah at Ajmer Sharif is his resting place. 

65. Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah (1905-1982) : 

Fondly called 'Lion of Kashmir," played a prominent role in integration of Kashmir with India, founded National Conference and became the first Chief Minister of J&K after independence. 

66. Majmul Bahrain : 

It is the Persian work of Prince Dara Shikoh in which there are interesting discussions on the Sufi and Hindu Cosmologies. 

67. Malik Muhammad Jaisi : 

He was a Muslim poet and author who wrote a well known Hindi work "Padmavat." 

68. Mahmud Gawan : 

He was a Iranian trader who rose to become the Prime Minister of Bahamani Kingdom. Under him the Bahamani power reached its zenith. He built a madrasa at Bidar. 

69. Minaj-us-Shiraj : 

A famous historian of Sultanate period who was appointed chief Qazi during Nasiruddin's rule.He described the political history of sultanate in his work 'Tabaqat-i- Nasiri'. 

70. Mirza Haider Doughlat : 

Cousin of Babur, who become the ruler of Kashmir. Also, authored a book titled 'Tarikh- i-Rashidi' on the history of central Asia and Mughals. 

71. Maladhar Basu : 

He was decorated as 'Gunaraja Khan' by the Sultan of Bengal. He compiled a Bengali Work 'Sri Krishnavijayam'. It is one of the foremost work of Bengali literature of the medieval times. 

72. Malik Ambar : 

An Abyssinian slave, who rose to be the chief administrator of Ahmadnagar after Chand Sultana. He gave a stiff resistance to the invading Mughals. Using the guerilla and action made so famous by Shivaji later. 

73. Malhar Rao Holkar : 

The founder of Holkar family of Indore, rose into prominence by sendering efficient and loyal service to Peshwa Baji Rao-I. He was a great warrior and master tactician. 

74. Meerabai : 

A Rajput princess, she was totally devoted to the deity Krishna. She composed devotional songs and hymns in Braj Bhasha mixed with Rajasthani in honour of Krishna. 

75. Mumtaj Mahal : 

Her original name was Arjumand Bana Begam. She was married to prince Khurrram later Emperor Shah Jahan. It was on her tomb that Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal. 

76. Manu : 

He was a famous sage and a law giver of the Hindus. His book the 'Manusamhita' deals with all aspects of the domestic life of an orthodox Hindu. 

77. Nur Jahan : 

She married Mughal emperor Jahangir in 1611, and took part is the politics of Mughal court. Indian fashion owe a lot to the experiments introduced by her. 

78. Namdev : 

A tailor who became a great poet of the Bhakti marga in Maharashtra. His hymns are part of Granth Sahib. 

79. Nagarjuna : 

He propounded the Madhyamika school of Buddhist philosophy, popularly known as Sunyavada. He thus gave a new and definite turn to Buddhist philosophy. 

80. Nagasena : 

He was the Buddhist sage or Philosopher who is mentioned in 'Milanda Panho' as the learned person with whom Menander discussed the theories and principles of Buddhism.
