Violence in Bangladesh
The main reason for the recent violent protests in Bangladesh is the quota system reserving 30% of government jobs for the families of the 1971 freedom fighters.
Many people have died so far due to these violent protests.
Due to these protests, the government has (1) imposed curfew (2) deployed the army (3) shut down internet services
The city most affected by these protests is Dhaka.
The government has ordered the shutdown of which social media platforms Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Katie has a total of 14 medals in Olympic history.
This is her fourth medal in Paris Olympics. In this, she won two gold, one silver and one bronze.
27-year-old Katie has equaled the 60-year-old record of Larisa Latynina. Former Russian female gymnast Larisa had won 18 medals in Olympic Games with a total of nine gold medals. In this way, Katie has come at par with her with nine golds.

Novak Djokovic won the gold medal in men's singles tennis event at Paris 2024 Olympics after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in a historic match. Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is the second Indian to go to space
Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has been selected for a joint mission of ISRO and NASA, under which he will travel to the International Space Station (ISS). This selection makes him the second Indian to go to space, the first to achieve this feat in the last 40 years. Earlier, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma had traveled to space with a Soviet mission in 1984. Along with Group Captain Shukla, Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair has also been selected for this mission, who will be the backup astronaut.

'World Development Report 2024: Middle Income Trap'
More than 100 countries, including India, are facing serious obstacles in becoming high-income countries in the next few decades and it may take India about 75 years to reach one-fourth of the US per capita income. This was said in a World Bank report. According to the World Bank's 'World Development Report 2024: Middle Income Trap', China will take more than 10 years to reach one-fourth of the US per capita income and Indonesia will take about 70 years.

Record more than 7.28 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) filed
A record more than 7.28 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) were filed by the deadline of July 31 for the assessment year 2024-25. This is 7.5 percent more than the 6.77 crore ITRs filed in the last financial year. Out of the total 7.28 crore Income Tax Returns, 5.27 crore ITRs have been filed under the new tax system. The number of returns filed under the old tax system has been 2.01 crore.
